Since the last election, we've experienced a rising anti-LGBTQIA+ climate in Scotland - particularly in relation to trans & non-binary people. We face an increasingly polarized world where our existence is repeatedly called into question, & our identities are used for political & media point scoring

Scotland has been working on ending conversion practices since the End Conversion Therapy petition was passed to the Parliament’s Equalities and Human Rights Committee in 2020. In January 2022, with Joe FitzPatrick as convener, the committee made strong recommendations for how to do this right.

This month, the Council of Europe formally adopted Recommendation CM/Rec(2025)7 on Equal Rights for Intersex Persons. It is the first international instrument of its kind dedicated solely to advancing the rights of intersex people.
