This morning I went to Union Street to see the damage and talk to Network Rail, the Police, Fire Services and the First Minister about how best we can support the people and businesses affected by the fire.

The fire on Union Street yesterday and overnight is absolutely devastating, a dark day for Glasgow. Central Station remains closed for the time being. I am hugely grateful to the emergency services who have worked throughout the night to contain the blaze and limit the damage.

NHS operations increased by 6.1% last year compared to the year before, and waiting lists have fallen 8 months in a row. Month after month, our plan to get the NHS on track is delivering for the people of Scotland.

Colleagues in Glasgow City Council have been shouting about this for some time and it's fallen on Labour parlimantarians' deaf ears. Labour isn't interested in giving Scotland the deal or resources it deserves, and their promised "change" is more of the same.
