Flashback to two years ago. Sadly, this would turn out to be the last Costume-Con, (at least for now) , but we went out big! We won "Best Presentation-Master Division", and I can definitely say I've never had more fun on stage dancing with a giant chicken!

From the "Unappreciated Mascot Files": Robin's Donuts "Robbie the Robin" While I have fond memories of being a different robin mascot for a few years, I still like Robbie better. He has a more huggable, approachable look about him. I have a plush version in my collection.

Well, looks like no TFF for me this year. My finances just took a major hit, and it's just not feasible.

How's THIS for an 80s flashback? I actually spent money to see "Megaforce" in the theater. (and I'm still sorry about it) The cars were cool at least. I had completely forgotten I ever had this "Megacruiser" kit. It's by Bandai, and it's about 1/16 scale. I really should build it one of these days.

I don't drink, can't stand fiddle and drum music, and I actually like snakes. Also, I'm not even one percent Irish. So Happy Tuesday! 😆

A.C. Gilbert's "Atomic Energy Lab" science set, circa 1954. (yes aimed at kids) It contained actual RADIOACTIVE ORE samples, for use in the sets' "cloud chamber"! Dangerous? Not really, despite the tiny amount of radioactive material. Still, a VERY rare artifact of our atomic age.

There actually was a time when faux-woodgrain was an accepted "look" for cars. (mostly for station wagons) VW actually offered these "woody" decals for the Rabbit (Golf Mk1) to be installed by the dealer. I've only ever seen it on the yellow cars. Haven't seen one since the early 80s.

Today is the 58th anniversary of the Apollo 1 fire, which took the lives of astronauts Gus Grissom, Ed White, and Roger Chaffee, in a launchpad testing accident. Rest in Peace, gentlemen. Ad Astra.

Ah, the Croner and St. Clare "Limefire" Barracuda funny car, driven by the legendary Clare Sanders. Super sanitary and super FAST. Easily one of the prettiest race cars of the early funny car era. (notice the factory chrome trim and door handles on the fiberglass one-piece body)
