I myself am no means a role model for what healing should look like. I often beat myself up over my reactions to certain things, but I remember I am doing quite well off with the few resources and tools I have access to. Best to remember that next time you compare yourself to those in treatment

Metaphorically, I'd compare it to breaking a bone long ago and having it heal wrong, but needing to get it re-broken to heal right under proper care. As much as I joke and jest, trying to heal by yourself and learn better coping mechanisms is a lot of hard work that doesn't go unpunished

The thing I noticed with healing is that once you're in a safe environment and no longer in survival mode, your subconscious is like; "Alright let's unpack all that" and all those repressed and unresolved experiences will rear their ugly head. It'll have you feeling like you're getting worse.
