It's worth noting that the EHRC maintains its trans exclusionary legal position in its draft Code of Practice. But the decision whether to lay that Code remains with the Minister, not the EHRC. Hence their angry letter to Bridget Phillipson today.

The scenes in London today are deeply concerning. A far-right conman, aided by tech and media billionaires, managed to mobilise 100,000 people. Including thugs who attacked police and counter-protesters. Sending my solidarity to everyone who is feeling anxious right now. You’re not alone.

No one would bother writing a column complaining that racists aren't welcome in the Scottish Greens, regardless of how much they care about tackling the climate emergency. Why do so many journalists struggle with the idea that we take the same position on anti-trans voices?

The UK should join the growing boycott of Eurovision if Israel is allowed to take part. Eurovision is a celebration of diversity, love and unity. But that's not possible if it’s being used to whitewash genocide. Israel should be removed as Russia was after its invasion of Ukraine.

The political attacks on LGBTQ+ people, especially trans people, are part of a concerted push to institutionalise authoritarianism. We can only defeat fascist ideas by refusing to coddle or sympathise with those who spread them. Solidarity with LGBTQ+ and other communities defending their existence.

This EHRC guidance is designed to push trans people out of public life, making it nearly impossible for them to leave their homes. And this onslaught doesn't just hurt our trans siblings. Cis women who don't conform to gender stereotypes are already under attack too. UK Ministers must reject it.

Burkina Faso has passed a law banning homosexual acts. Capt. Ibrahim Traoré, the leader of the country’s transitional military government, should reject the law and ensure the rights to dignity, freedom, and equality are protected for all.

Keir Starmer has appointed as his new Comms Director Tim Allan who was a board member of the hate group Sex Matters. It's no longer even pretending to adhere to its Manifesto promise to "remove indignities for trans people who deserve recognition and acceptance."

It is worth remembering that various governments over the years, even when claiming to have brought in progressive legislation for trans people, have often only done so after a European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) ruling. The Gender Recognition Act (2004) is one such piece of legislation.

Politics can be different. Instead of giving a voice to corporations and lobbyists, Greens give Scottish communities a voice to build a better Scotland for all. Be part of the movement. 💚
