People have to stop expecting Trump breaking a rule or precedent to be what puts an end to this. There are no guardrails, no referees, no institutional block. The only thing that will stop this is a grassroots movement of people organizing to reject an oligarchical takeover. Thatβs it. Period.

I donβt find it useful to debate about what design is or isnβt, or even what craft means. Who cares? Do what is necessary for the thing at hand and understand why youβre doing it. Build your personal toolbox. Thatβs it.

Weβve forgotten how. No, really, this was my profession for years. And instead of dedicating resources to the craft of making great, custom software you love Companies like Sonos are leading the way to cross-platform garbage apps that barely work at all, even as it destroys their businesses

the fires are no joke right now. the county is on fire east to west. lots of my favorite trails are toast, friends are evacuating or ready to go tonight. the air smells like smoke and its silently raining ash. feels like 2020 all over again. a strange omen.
