While I’m also happy that so many scientific societies and institutions are speaking out, it’s very telling that the silence about attacks on DEI(aka just pure racism) and immigration, has been met with full silence

My feed is overwhelmed with scientists right now calling out the catastrophic consequences of the NIH indirect cost order from last night. If those same people aren't also speaking out against the anti-trans, anti-DEI, anti-immigrant orders...we are lost. The only path forward is solidarity.

almost two years ago I wrote a piece at like 3am about my relationship with science and academia in general. that vent piece just got accepted into a magazine and I'm very much looking forward to sharing this piece in particular.

while I hope the situation with the NIH gets fixed, I hope this is lesson to academia in particular, that anti-Blackness not only harm Black people, but ultimately harms everyone.

Just remember: all of this is happening is because we elected a Black President (and a moderate one at that) and the concept of Black people in power/educated/in society dismantles White Supremacy. And that terrified this country.
