Our final manifesto call is for investment into a national hobby framework so that every child and young person can take part in a hobby of their choice. We know the benefits that hobbies have on our lives, but often, parents, carers, children and young people face barriers to accessing them.

Our fifth call is for 'parenting with adults' to be given its own emphasis within national policy, recognising that parenting doesn't stop when children turn 18. There are many circumstances in which parents/carers need to parent after 18 years, either short term or for lifelong issues.

Our fourth manifesto call is to deliver universal and intensive whole family support to all that need it, incorporating Open Kindergartens as an effective means of universal provision. Too many feel they don't have adequate help or support in their parenting journey - this must change.

Our third manifesto call is putting parents' and carers' views and experiences at the heart of decision making. Their voices must be valued to truly understand the constraints families experience and what can help, acknowledging differing experiences across demographics and communities.

Our second manifesto call is to ensure parents and carers are confident champions of their children's rights by increasing their understanding of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC).

Having launched our 2026 Manifesto, we are going to be taking a deeper look each week at the six calls. We believe that, if introduced, the six calls would have a profound and positive impact on the lives of parents, carers and their families in Scotland.

Earlier today the UK Government released new figures showing that 1.66 million children in the UK are affected by the two-child limit. The UK Government must scrap this unjust policy and put an end to a system that views some children as more deserving of support than others. #NoLimitsToChildhood
