I should start tracking my answers to the little anxiety/depression questionnaires at my psychiatrist visits. My assessment of how I’ve felt over the last 2 weeks depends on my mood while filling out the form. If I’m in a good mood I’ll convince myself “surely I didn’t feel THAT bad EVERY day” …

They figured it out! The “National Drug Code” number for my medication changed. (Same exact product, apparently, just a new ID number). My script was input with the outdated code, which is why the inventory system couldn’t find any. the pharmacist updated the code and it should be ready tomorrow.

I hate the walgreens pharmacy phone system. If I ask for a pharmacist, don't waste my time with a recitation of the pharmacy hours and encouragement to use the automated system I don't WANT to speak to a pharmacist, I have RESIGNED MYSELF TO IT after all other sources of information failed.

Spaghetti. It’s the pasta shape most likely to accidentally fling sauce around. The twirling is just inconvenient. I guess angel hair is worse, but it’s also not very common, so that’d be kind of a cop out answer.

I call it “joyful rigor” when I explain this effort to my students. I don’t believe in or rather, I’m not a “suffering poet.” I’m a writer who enjoys writing. The work works on me and I’m grateful for the opportunity to delve into the process at my own pace and to be changed by it.

There's something deeply upsetting about this software being a simulacrum of a woman. It stinks of misogyny. And, in a world where a living human with dreams and free will can say "I am a woman," and be hated for it, it becomes extra fucky that we so casually call this NES sprite "she."

People who coax chatbots into sensible answers are basically opening and closing the fridge until it contains something you wanna eat, yes, eventually you get hungrier & eat the stuff in there. But what changed was your cognition. The fridge stayed the same. You changed your mind about the contents.

I’m so annoyed with Ikea. We recently got this Kallax shelf, and every single one of the doors we got for it had cracked corners (the delivery box wasn’t damaged, but I guess the doors got shaken around) And now I am having an emotional crisis about it. I know I'm being irrational, AND YET.

Kidney tests also fine! My creatinine levels are always kinda high, but that can be thrown off by stuff like exercise. My doctor ran some other tests that are more kidney-specific and those came back normal.

Good lab results, for once! The cholesterol med is doing its thing. My LDL cholesterol dropped by 65% compared to June and total cholesterol is half what it used to be. Triglycerides still high, but the rest of the lipid results are back in the healthy range.

Does taking meds count as breaking a fast? Asking for the purpose of fasting blood tests, not religious observance.

Has anyone under age 65 ACTUALLY GOTTEN the new COVID vaccine in Arizona without a prescription? Despite Gov. Hobbs' order from 9/12, Walgreens still seems to be requiring prescriptions for COVID vaccines in AZ (at least according to their website, I haven't asked in person).

Idk if crime around campus has actually gotten worse or if the university has just gotten more thorough about sending campus safety alerts. I don’t remember getting this many alerts back when I started here.

Governor Katie Hobbs signed an Executive Order expanding access to COVID vaccines in Arizona. It makes it possible for people to get the COVID vaccine without needing a prior prescription and directs insurers to cover the vaccine.

now that I'm home from work and looking over these more closely, don't block ALL of them. many of the domains are just widely-used services for uptime monitoring, payment processing, CAPTCHAs, etc. blocking those will cause problems with LOTS of websites, not just GPT. Details in pics/alt text

Total Wine’s started selling N/A beer as individual bottles/cans not just entire six-packs! I’m legitimately excited. N/A beers are kinda hit or miss for me, so I’m glad I can try some different ones without getting stuck with extras of something I don’t like.

OpenAI has this list of domains that companies should allow through their firewalls if they have trouble accessing ChatGPT. I’m going to do the reverse and add them to my wifi’s "parental controls" blocklist.

🧶 Can I get some beginner quilting advice? My sewing machine quilted some test scraps nicely, but on the actual quilt the stitch length becomes microscopic after sewing for a few inches (unless I tug on the fabric to help it along, which I know I shouldn’t do and which makes uneven stitches)

The thing I wish people would understand about bodies: Except in a VERY FEW cases, you don't get sick, and then get better. You get sick, or hurt, or find out something's off with your body - and then if you're lucky they can restore *most* of what you had before, AND YOU STILL HAVE TO GO TO WORK.
