I'm often right about things I wish I wasn't right about.

40 years ago today.

Civil liberties across the Western world are being replaced by a tragically comic take on an authoritarian scheme, worse that makes the average 1990s dystopian cyberpunk B-movie look tame . . . all by pushing a thought-terminating cliché. I can't believe the PMRC has won, 40 years after the fact.

Two MRI scans, a CT scan, a botched EEG, 14 days with a halter monitor (wearable heart monitor), and they found no cause for these stroke-like syncope spells I've been having for nearly three years. I just had my second worst one. I feel helpless.

I did the nerdy thing and made a Corvette ship based on Opyimus Prime in No Man's Sky. The door is in a weird place for the sake of functionality. Otherwise, this as good as I can make it with the parts that I've unlocked so far.

What a terrible name for a convenience store. Reminds me of that horrible tragedy.

That was the best show I've played with this band. The door guy told me "you guys rocked!" Sold the most T-shirts (only two lol). I had to ice my wrist after getting home. Seems okay now.

There're a lot of psychically damaging things about Bluesky, but the most dispiriting has to be seeing how addicted resist-libs are to generative AI imagery. What makes it worse is, all of their gen-AI meme posts are null data transfers; i.e. if transmitter and receiver agree, no info is exchanged.

Meta is currently building an AI compute center in Louisiana that, when finished next year, will be almost as large as the city of Manhattan, and is projected to draw 2-5 GW of power by 2030. For perspective, Manhattan's annual power usage is ~2.5 GW. Gen-AI is hastening climate catastrophe.

I am opposed to AI products and services because of the extra power they require... IN A CLIMATE CRISIS. I am opposed to AI results - texts and illustrations - because they've been created unethically, via theft and non-consensual use of the work of others. Share if you agree.
