My toxic artist trait is that I know I should use more reference and do more practice and studies… but instead I just draw from the top of my head all the time and then complain about it.

Last night I drew a they/them Magpie Witch as I mull over an idea about a thing where all witches are bird-themed and singular so you have, like... The Sparrow Witch and the Owl Witch as specific characters... ... And then this morning I looked at this picture and just feel really frustrated by it.

2025 was a hell of a year. I rediscovered some creativity, since switching career paths, and i'm excited to see where it takes me!

As a hobbyist and an old man, I was nervous to do this because I wasn't sure if I had enough worthwhile pieces to do one for every month. But, honestly, this was a great year artistically for me, I guess. (Also, if you do Art Fight, July is really hard for this!)

I did the thing. It’s nice to feel slightly confident drawing an extreme head angle. It's not super great, but it's not too bad, and that's a real improvement over not long ago.
