Fieldwork experience in peatlans is always a great feeling and a bit exhausting. We core in depth this peatland from North Galicia. We take small cores of 50 cm to analyse at the lab the evolucion of forest coverage, climate and metal pollution. The best way to end 2025. @erc.europa.eu @usc.gal

GUEST RESEARCHER Dr. Ingrid Horák Terra is a researcher at the Universidade Federal dos Vales do Jequitinhonha e Mucuri (UFVJM), in Brazil, and is a specialist in peatlands and veredas soils. Ingrid works with us on the molecular composition and mercury of Brazilian peat. @erc.europa.eu @usc.gal

Our PhD student Marta Colmenares is participating as a team of the Kom al-Ahmer and Kom Wasit archaeological project. The study is a collaboration between Egypt, Stockholm and Santiago, a project linked to the research of Dr. Alexandra Morrone. @usc.gal @cretus.usc.gal @erc.europa.eu

Noemí Silva, one of our PollutedPast postdocs, has done a research stay suprrvised by Dr. Ben Gearey in the Department of Archeology at @ucc.ie. Noemí has ​​collaborated there with the project 'Feeding Capitalism and Facing its Consequences? Upland Pastoralism in Ireland and Sweden, AD1350-1850'

One more year, part of the team is excavating at the Corro dos Mouros site in Adai, Lugo. The work is directed by Dr. Pilar Prieto Martínez, PI of EcoPast. Adai is a RODA type site, an funerary and ritual spaces from the Bronze and Iron Age surrounded by a unique circular wall.

We are now excavating in Adai archaeological site. The team is directed by Pilar Prieto Martinez (EcoPast and @cispac.bsky.social). The members of our team, Noemí and Raul, are sampling a pedo-sedimentary sequence to monitorize the evolution of the site. @cretus.usc.gal @usc.gal @erc.europa.eu
