I'm at the emergency vet after midnight because I left my cat, Fry (pictured), alone for one minute too long with a small toy and he swallowed it.

I briefly escaped work to read awhile in the 70 whole degrees we got today. I looked up from my book and saw a kettle of vultures above me, speaking upward on a thermal. The setting sun glinted off their black wings. My toils are nothing compared to the sky.

This is like a tiny thing in The Grand Scheme, but I find it hilarious that Apple's argument to horn in on the Google antitrust trial is: "How are we supposed to direct our users to the best search engine if that search engine isn't paying us $20bn??"

A bad sign at my current job: As I return from a weeklong absence, there is no one on my team that I'm looking forward to catching up with. Just one person in another team. I don't need to be super buddies with all my coworkers. I'd just like to feel some connection after two years.
