I've been noodling with my own IDE! I made a Dear ImGui backend for the new StereoKit tech, and got carried away :) Text editor with multi-cursor, and line numbers on the right! Built-in cmake, with easy options for passing args when running! Capture and embed app's window! VSCode themes!

Also wow do I love GitHub pages, so easy to stand up little sites!

I've been working on a new Vulkan renderer for StereoKit! Just over two weeks in, and I've amassed a nice collection of little feature demos :) Instancing, single pass rendering, stencils, compute, 3D textures, mips, cubemaps, threaded upload, and a whole bunch more. Can't wait to get this into SK!

If you're still using Unity for XR, skip the Vendor SDKs and use actually portable OpenXR code like this instead!

Vendor specific SDKs for OpenXR are often tools for vendor lock-in, unintentionally or not. You do _not_ need a vendor specific SDK to write XR apps! A single StereoKit APK works on most XR headsets with zero changes. A single modification reaches 100% github.com/KhronosGroup...

I just finished a diet that was quite nice, so I thought I'd share notes! The technique was calorie counting and running a deficit, nice and simple. I can eat anything I want, as long as I budget appropriately! I spent 90 days, and dropped 152lb -> 142lb. I can see my abs again, nice! :) 🧵

More photos from London, these are all from St. Paul's Cathedral! Delightfully, they let you climb _all_ the way to the top of this one, giving you some rather spectacular views of the city! Also, very windy, and _very_ high up, kinda like a lighthouse.

StereoKit works out-of-box on AndroidXR :) No changes necessary! OpenXR is so kick-ass when used correctly.

In my free time I've been noodling with a small app for editing photos via shaders! Basically a shader hot-reload editor plus a reflection powered panel inspector, and on-photo editing tools for certain pre-defined types. It's been fun to noodle on, and I'm excited for when it's more feature rich!

A quick shot of the Westminster Cathedral (Not the Abbey!) I’ve never seen a cathedral made from brick before, this one had a really dark and warm sort of vibe to it!

Whenever I travel, I like to pick up a “trophy” to remember the trip by. I just got back from London, where I got a silver denarius from 213 AD! Valid currency in London at the time. A denarius was worth about a day’s wages, and this one features the bloodthirsty Roman emperor Caracalla! Neat!

Just updated the StereoKit templates to use .NET 8 :) Everything seems pretty good out-of-the-box, and `dotnet run` seems capable of deploying to Android devices now too! Definitely a welcome upgrade!

Forgot to post about this but I made a template for the Lynx R1 and @koujaku.bsky.social's StereoKit that's incredibly quick to build/run on headset/develop for. Just edit Program.cs and use stereokit.net for docs! github.com/technobaboo/...

A new OpenXR Loader 1.0.31 just dropped! I see a XR_KHR_egl_enable reserved, which means XR_MNDX_egl_enable is getting promoted! 🥳 V. nice for me. XR_MSFT_scene_marker also exposes WMR QR code tracking via OpenXR as well, which is definitely nice :) github.com/KhronosGroup...

Initial impression of Quest 3: StereoKit works out of the box (yay!) It's a very nice upgrade from Q2, and feels somewhat sideways from QPro. Q3 passthrough feels the same as QPro's, except it does a better job of avoiding overexposure on screens. I can allmost use a phone.

StereoKit v0.3.8 is finally out, after a year of work, and quite a bit of life change! Lots of really fantastic features and improvements in here :) I've attached builds of the StereoKitTest project to this release as well, so you can try out the demos! github.com/StereoKit/St...

Here's another plugin I worked on for a while, but never shipped! It was a vertex light baking tool, which I had built to help optimize a GearVR title I was working on. It was fast enough it could update in-editor live, or on game startup!

Here's an outline effect plugin I built for Unity and never shipped! I ultimately decided that I did _not_ want to do customer support for Unity shaders. It did however ship in Breach and Clear though :)

Most of my pictures move, so I had to dig a little to find one that doesn't. Here's a project I'd love to revisit again someday, this was some visual experimentation for a VR arena shooter :)
