Today marks one year since my husband and I became Canadians! Our Canniversary if you will. Still very Scottish, but also very happily Canadian 😃🇨🇦🍁 (Having this anniversary at the BEST time of year was wonderful luck 🍂☀️🎃)

I realised this morning, as I sat doomscrolling through the other place, wondering why news networks are ignoring all the videos filling my feed showing ICE literally assaulting innocent Americans, that I need another random thing to do for downtime. 1/

I was going to post about my prints being available, and how to order, but now I feel I need to figure out how to actually get them to people, given US tariff nonsense and now Canadapost strikes. As a tiny business, I’m pretty fed up with all this.

I found this in value village today… it was overpriced, but it seemed such a perfect object for painting that I gave in and bought it! I’ve been in a bit of a slump recently so I’m hoping it might spark something 🌟

Sometimes I wonder if I tried would I be more successful at social media. But I just saw a great, professional reel on IG from a pro artist (oil painter). He has 50,000 followers. The reel’s been up for 24hrs. It has 505 likes. It’s a perfect video. 505 likes. I struggle to see the point… 🙁

I think I rediscovered my love for film yesterday, thanks to the Silver Screen Classics channel (which I never had before). I'm sick of focus group movies overstuffed with cgi, and last night I watched The Chase (1966). Never heard of it, amazing cast, fascinating watch! 60s social commentary...

Turns out when you avoid social media garbage you’re more productive! I have 3 sample prints made and they look great! Letting them dry and then taking photos… 😊

Our cable/internet provider - a small local company - was bought up by Rogers a couple of years ago. We've been able to stay with the small company until now - we have to transfer over. So now I'm in the hell of web portals that don't work and trying to reschedule appts and no replies. Oh joy.

IT’S RAINING!!! It’s not supposed to last long, but I went out and stood in it and got very wet. The garden, the woods and I all sighed deeply. (I’m Scottish, generically I need some rain lol)

I know I said this week for art prints, and I'm still hopeful, but I've been a bit sidetracked by the forest fires we're having here in NS. None are too near us right now, but we did have a scare when a field caught fire 2km from us and almost spread to the woods. I've been preoccupied 😔

Next week I’m hoping to be able to offer some new prints! This will be one of them - one of my personal favourite paintings 😊

We’re in a major heat wave/drought and a couple of days ago we put a bowl of water out where we put bird food on winter. The chickadees have finally found it, and I’m officially getting nothing done today. My day is now watching all kinds of birds drink and splash around ❤️❤️❤️

When it’s this hot, Puck is either in the house or in the shade! (Another day in the low 30s here)

My husband and I drove to the city today to deliver my paintings to the gallery! I’m so proud of these; as a series they look so good together 😊 If you’re in Halifax NS the show opens next Tuesday at the Teichert Gallery!

Having been painting solidly for 8 weeks it is very odd now to not have anything specific to do. I mean, I have been painting the edges and varnishing, but those tasks don't take 10hrs/day. Today has been a 'slump' day; I think I maintained focus for so long that it needs to be off for a bit!

I’ve finished my paintings! I spent last night and this morning taking photos, next up is wiring and painting the edges, then varnish. And then get them to the gallery. Hold on, I thought I could have a rest when I finished painting? 😴

Sometimes ideas hit me in the gym… once my painting marathon is done I plan to dive in to offering prints. But… would anyone be interested in Christmas cards, from my light/dark pieces? If I can find somewhere to print them for me? ❓🎄 Would you prefer individual cards, or packs?

In news that doesn’t relate to painting progress, I saved a snake from my cat today! Glad I noticed the situation in time… he’s beautiful.
