Reduced confidence associated with aging increases information seeking under uncertainty, whereas confidence alterations associated with symptoms of psychopathology do not. Out now w/ Greta Mohr &

Great new paper by Yuening Yan & Philippe Schyns and colleagues. Uses MEG and very sophisticated analyses to demonstrate that the prediction of specific stimulus features, rather than coarse categories, biases perception.

Strength of predicted information content in the brain biases decision behavior
Yan et al. reveal the visual contents that the brain predicts before the stimulus is shown. They show that these contents flow down from ventral to occipital cortex, where they are lateralized. Criti...

Lovely study linking individual differences in confidence and information seeking to ageing and mental health - interesting to see underconfidence with age can be ameliorated with greater info seeking - by

🌟First post over here, which I'm very happy to use to share a new paper in TICS with Angela Radulescu & Kara Emery. 🌟 We review work taking an approach we refer to as "naturalistic reinforcement learning", which uses more naturalistic approaches to study learning and decision-making.
