Oh for fucks sake. I've seen racier drag scenes in Bugs Bunny cartoons. If you're hauling kids out of the Globe over that? It says more about your filthy imagination than what's on stage.

Making it all the more egregious that we continue to see a plurality of councillors elected that have never attended a meeting or engaged with the city in a meaningful way, don’t understand these problems, and fail to bring forward any ideas or actions to try to address them.

Book: Clr Bezo loves KPIs. He once suggested imposing performance standards on the grades of high school teens in exchange for free bus service. But we won't do that for one of the most successful businesses in the province's history.

Book: They want you to pay severance for 50 REAL employees potentially, and $500k operating costs each year for up to 99 years. All of this as they gain food & beverage revenue & development rights & plan to charge market rates to their partner the city.

Brandt's operations are located in the RM of Sherwood. City Council adjusted Regina's borders in a boundary swap because Semple didn't want to pay taxes to the city.

This analogy is more apt than he realizes. The city's primary revenue is collecting property tax. If they sell this land and accept that they won't be collecting property tax, the city will effectively being trying to build a farm on rocks. They will never harvest property tax on this land again.

Hot take, if you don't live, work, and play in Regina then your opinion shouldn't matter when it comes to municipal decisions. As soon as you say "I flew in to be here" your opinion is less than dirt to me.

Maybe you’ve seen the

news stories about Brandt trying to buy half of the REAL district land and buildings from the city. They’d pay $6.5 million because the buildings are so busted it would take almost $80 million to bring them up to like new conditions. But there are a lot more costs. /1

This Wednesday will be the final reading of the the 10% transit fair increase bylaw. This is the last opportunity for city council to reconsider. The previous reading vote passed with a split of 6-5. There's a possibility that a vote could change and the transit fare increase will not go into effect

Maclaughlin: The second logical fallacy: we're asking transit riders — one of the most cost effective forms of transportation — to "pay their way" in addition to paying property taxes. But we do no make a similar ask of car drivers.

Rashovich: Who pays for all the transit? Stratton: An interesting question. It comes out of our property taxes. But those of us who use transit don't use most of the other roadways & those come out our taxes too. But there's no fee for the car drivers for the roads we don't use.

Funny how the most fiscally hawkish councillors are also the ones demanding limitless, free parking — despite the costs parking imposes upon cities. Why, it's almost like it's the fiscal hawks driving up property taxes & not the Inefficiency Jabberwock they're forever chasing.

You know what would make it easier to redirect what EDR is doing? Absorbing them into the city. This idea that council needs to micromanage an outside org because they have no clue what they are doing but they should remain autonomous is frankly ludicrous.

Radons: EDR has not shown any events or actions that aren't duplication w/ other agencies. There are questions of accountability, deliverables & development. Streamline our KPIs. Have one company at events, not multiple. Refocus on Regina over region.
