The State Land Office doesn’t control what happens on federal public lands. But, by the same token, the feds don’t dictate what happens on State Trust Land. There are 72,776 acres of State Trust Land in the Greater Chaco area that are not and will not be available for oil and gas development.

Even as I run for State Land Commissioner, I continue to serve in the Legislature. Today the interim Land Grant Committee laid out its work plan for the coming months. Topics include infrastructure investment for land grants and acequias, local zoning authority, and disaster response and recovery.

In the Legislature, I passed "Roxy's Law" (SB 32 2021) to ban trapping on public lands. Poisoning wildlife—and family pets—is worse. New Mexico's Department of Game & Fish (soon to be the Department of Wildlife) must fight any effort to place cyanide bombs anywhere in New Mexico.

This is outright theft from the U.S. Treasury by MAGA fascist criminals.

Simply displacing Trump from power in the next two elections is insufficient. We must undo the incredible damage he has done to democracy -- including voiding and expropriating all of the corrupt deals Trump has made.
