#BacterioMed This Serratia marcescens strain was isolated from the sputum of a patient with chronic lung disease. 🫁 The emergence of a mucoid phenotype is never trivial in clinical microbiology, and synonymous of chronic infection, biofilm, persistence, particularly within the respiratory tract. 🧫

#BacterioMed Bacteremia caused by Lactobacillus plantarum (Lactiplantibacillus plantarum) in a patient who underwent digestive surgery. So glad to have had early identification right from the Gram stain: crucial for guiding probabilistic antibiotic therapy, given this species’ resistance profile.
