The OMB budget request (www.whitehouse.gov/wp-content/u...) wants to reduce NASA's science budget by $3.4 billion by terminating over 40 "low-priority missions". Does anyone know which 40 missions those are? I can't find them listed anywhere. 🔭🚀

The mental whiplash this week between the joy of the Artemis II launch and the proposed budget cuts is exhausting. The admin cares about one thing at NASA*, and while human spaceflight is amazing, the science that made the US a global leader is what that they are now hellbent on defunding.

People keep sharing this with me and I need you to understand that NASA does more than space. They weren't cutting Artemis. THey were cutting NASA workforce and the biggest chunk was NASA science which included a 53% cut to NASA Earth Science. NASA DOES A LOT OF EARTH SCIENCE

It’s not aliens.

I don't think people fully appreciate how apocalyptic things are for US science. I haven't had any new funding since 2024, but I'm still ok since typical grants are for three years. This means next year I will be completely out of funding and will have to fire everyone in the lab. It's not great.
