I went to two Accessibility events in June, both featured AI heavily. I've consolidated thoughts here. I guess the blog post is about cutting through the hype to find the humanity and ensuring "nothing about us without us" - disabled folk need to be front and center of any solutions given to them.

Life is a hurricane (here in Duckberg) - we're still around, working hard, looking forward to a productive 25/26 and planning exciting new projects. Right now we're working on our bit of a podcast about the book we contributed to (linked below) - we'll link the podcast as soon as it's available!

We were delighted to hold a Digital Confidence workshop at the Research In Distance Education (RIDE) 2025 conference last month, and in this blog post we've shared thoughts about a couple of the great presentations we saw around the theme of alternative forms of #DigitalAssessment.

This is a great distillation of what study skills are - it's not always recognised that interpersonal skill development is a vital part of education, and that how to ask for, receive and make the most of help and feedback needs to be taught alongside the content for successful learners.

We'd definitely argue for Digital Confidence - although we see it as a mindset you travel with, rather than a skill you can achieve! We'll be talking about this at University of London's #RIDE2025 conference on Friday, and keep an eye out for us posting about upcoming publications!

A fantastic #LTHEchat once again, this time about AI in a #postplagiarism landscape. It's so illuminating to get glimpses of the teaching philosophies and beliefs underpinning these fascinating conversations around genAI, and I hope that students get to see these articulated too!

Big question of the day! We often describe our work as being a Springboard, Safety net (ntuhum-ltsu.com/digital-peda...) and Spotlight (ntuhum-ltsu.com/digital-conf...) - and we’re always thinking about what more we can do to start conversations earlier!

A really interesting view on feedback, and a great basis for making more reflective learners who will be able to apply what they've learned - and continue reflecting and learning - in employment.

Appraisal time is rolling around for us again - when you work as a team, it can be challenging to disentangle your particular threads from the excellent work you've completed together. If you've got a second, reskeet with something awesome in #LTHE you've personally achieved this academic year!

We've been having interesting conversations this afternoon about learning *from* mistakes and learning *to avoid* mistakes, and what skills, attributes and learning behaviours these represent. And, perhaps most importantly, how these are carried forward - e.g. *avoiding* doesn't build flexibility.

Good morning Skyline! :) Lots on today - blog writing, colleague drop-in, a query about weird HTML formatting, and (very excitingly!) design work on our session for #RIDE2025. We'll be running a workshop about digital confidence on Friday afternoon, and we're really excited to meet people there!

Opened up Bluesky with actual Blue Sky outside, first time in a while! It's nice to start a Monday morning feeling optimistic, even if you have to hit the ground running. We're working on our knowledge pool about #EDI and #genAI today, planning how to embed AI guidance, and catching up on reading!

This is so important! We really try to encourage our colleagues to talk to us at the start of a project, as retroactive inclusive design is so much more work.

Lovely description of an ideal inclusive future in education! We're definitely hoping for/working towards this.

A1. #LTHEchat To me, 'designing for diversity' means considering as many user needs as I can for my teaching design, and learning new approaches to address user needs I'm not experienced with.

Reciprocal working: Having an absolutely fascinating chat with colleagues about the way they use generative AI in their current practice with students, and promising in exchange to send really detailed feedback for their appraisals about the impact they've had on school conversations. Mutual win!

Doing some reading (on paper, as an #ADHD accommodation) this morning. A Royal Society paper from 2018 to help inform a blog post on AI and how we talk about it. It’s easy to get swept up in recency bias and forget that #AI is far more than LLMs!

Blimey, some deep thoughts about concept mapping this morning! The tensions between unstructured personal response and some sort of scaffolding, between capturing a moment in time and being able to refer back to a usable resource in the future... do you have a preferred model or style? #EduSky

A5. Support each other. Most institutions have digital education specialists and education developers with the skills and remit to ensure a rounded and well-communicated curriculum and practice. Include them, work with them, review with them. If you have recurring issues, discuss them. #LTHEchat
