THE FINAL RECKONING is a mess. Overloaded with plot, oddly paced, and the score is the weakest in the franchise - but the set pieces hit hard. There’s an underwater scene that rivals THE ABYSS. I didn't like the film, but I really loved parts of it.

NOSFERATU - Slow horror on fast forward. A throwback to classic horror, but weighed down by modern pitfalls. It kept rushing to nowhere, with jump scares that clashed with the aesthetic and overshadowed strong performances from Depp and Skarsgård. I tried to love this. It's 100% my shit. Damn.

My adaptation of NOSFERATU would be a John Hughes style comedy called Ships, Coffins and Carriages.

I needed a cold, slick spy thriller this winter, and THE AGENCY is exactly that. It feels like the show Fincher might’ve made after MINDHUNTER, but Joe Wright (Hanna, Darkest Hour) helmed the first episode - insane cast, stylish as hell, and if it keeps this up, we might have an all-timer.

NUTCRACKERS is a solid “7-Day-Rental” holiday movie to watch in pajamas on a weekday afternoon. @benstiller.redhour.com is great, it’s shot on film (rich colors, great grain), and the kids shine for being refreshingly unpretentious. Weird, fun, and maybe my favorite David Gordon Green film.

BETTER MAN - One of the finer films from the recent musical biopic run, but I couldn’t help but think about how the most insane aspect of Robbie Williams’ story is that it ends with him telling it as a CGI monkey. It might not have better songs, but it’s a far better musical than WICKED.
