The loss of Holby City and Doctors was bad enough, but proposing to cancel River City is a step too far, and must be fought, tooth and nail. It is a distinctive Scottish product which must be protected. Once gone, there will be nothing else like it in Scotland. The BBC belongs to ALL of us! 3/

BBC have cancelled Holby, Doctors and now River City, while reducing eps on the likes of Casualty. All these shows, whatever you think of them, are UK centric shows aimed at UK audiences,employing Uk cast / crew. The British Broadcating Corporation is paid for by a UK licence fee (enforced in law)

There'll be a lot of 'great place for new writer's to cut their teeth' chat around this, which is true, but River City employs a lot of incredibly talented, incredibly experienced writers - what continuing drama represents is a place for writers to make a living.

Heart breaking to hear about the BBC axing another continuing drama. River City always punched above its budgetary weight and had some great writers. I hope that BBC Scotland will look to them for their new dramas and not squander experience and talent as the BBC has done too many times before.
