the more javascript/typescript i write the more i get radicalized towards the lisp-style "end parens goes on the last line with the content" too many lines are wasted for just the ending }) of blocks like .map(x => { /*...*/ }) when like going compact would just take a little used to

idk what to think about the PLC announcement. it's kind of exactly what I expected. nothing really new? my enthusiasm about it depends on how many developers are full-time there, that's what actually matters towards solving tech problems

are my preferences just that out of tune with the general population cause i just do not get how xedra is one of the more niche artists i listen to. i have like 20% of the scrobbles for xedra on lastfm (not accounting that it's an overloaded name), it's just really easy music to listen on loop

i came up with interface{*A;B} and thought it was disgusting and there had to be a better way so i googled it... and nope that's like the correct way to do this???? that's insane how does go make a function which is effectively an instantiation of `map` have more complicated typing than haskell ๐ญ

i always thought it was weird that we didn't have like any dependencies declared and just let services go into crash loops when the database went down or whatever turns out kubernetes just has no way to declare dependencies between services???? like it's just not a thing you do???? that's insane

i would assume that the advantage of microservices is that it's not unreasonable to just rewrite the service with more design space knowledge when new requirements arrive that don't fit great so it's crazy to me that seemingly companies do not ever do that and still tower on tech debt in services

I think what irks me so much about the "working on plc would be a bad use of engineering time" argument is like. it would be true for most companies. but the PBC part of Bluesky PBC means something! their mission isn't to run a social network, it's to develop decentralized technologies.

any sufficiently complicated Go program contains an ad hoc, informally-specified, bug-ridden, slow implementation of half of Common Lisp.

sometimes i wonder why i bother pretending 300 characters of rambling above an album will make people more likely to listen to the music i post this goes especially so for this album, for which i think going in blind was definitely part of what made me like it so much from the first time i heard it
