EXCLUSIVE: One Saturday afternoon in October, my phone lit up with a notification. I glanced down at the message. “Anna, Lindsey Halligan here,” it began. So began my text exchange with the woman who is prosecuting the president's perceived political enemies.

Machado has received international recognition for her activism. In 2025, she was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize "for her tireless work promoting democratic rights for the people of Venezuela and for her struggle to achieve a just and peaceful transition from dictatorship to democracy." - OOP

God bless art. I love going from a room of septuagenarian nature lovers to a room of late teen/early twenties here to listen to a Broadway playwright.

Listen, I’m really enjoying The Secret of Secrets. It’s a great Langdon book, especially after the dud that was Origin. However, I’m begging Dan Brown to just leave women out of the next one. No women would be better than his current depictions.

I want you all to know that this isn’t based on outside economists. This is based on Trump Commerce data. I don’t know why the Forbes team is insistent on simping in their headline writing when they know people often won’t click in to see the truth of reporting within the article.

I’ve been reading the essays in Edwin Frank’s Stranger Than Fiction alongside their key texts, and I’m developing a theory that male literature stopped being interesting when straight men started passing the Bechdel Test

Okay, I’ve been watching some 1960s/1970s intellectual debate videos/documentaries (Buckley&Baldwin, Mailer&Vidal, Town Bloody Hall). I want the time back that mean little straight men entered the lions’ den. Not debating college kids ten years their junior.

I don’t know if anyone has ever seemed more disdainful of another person as Joyce Carol Oates does of Monroe in Blonde. That was a torturous 736 pages, and I hope to never again be so plagued as a reader.

This is something I’ve been thinking about a lot lately as I continue to see Trump voters referred to as “under educated.” I know many of these folks and they would see them themselves as perfectly well educated to suit their needs. I don’t understand why there’s a continued elitist viewpoint.
