Former All-American Girls Professional Baseball League player Dottie (Ferguson) Key was born in Winnipeg, Man., on this date in 1923. She stole more than 70 bases in a season three times during her AAGPBL career, including a career-high 91 for the Rockford Peaches in 1951. She passed away in 2003.

Ange Armato joined the All-American Girls Professional Baseball League in its later years. She suited up for the Rockford Peaches in 1949 and Kalamazoo Lassies in 1953, a period with shifting public attention after WW II. Like many, Armato had to be versatile: able to hit, field, and more. (1/2)

I had a full circle moment this week watching the WPBL draft and visiting Ann Harnett's grave. Before becoming a Sister of Charity, Ann was the first player signed to the AAGPBL in 1943. She played 5 seasons in the league for Kenosha and Peoria. #AAGPBL #WomeninBaseball #DirtintheSkirt
