It's simple. Everyone in the US enjoys the protections of the Constitution - even visitors. So if someone commits a crime here, you give them due process here. You charge them here, try them here, and sentence them here. You don't deport them to an offshore torture prison.

My Dad passed a year ago today. I miss him. One of the many things giving me comfort is that he isn’t here to witness a 2nd Tr*mp Presidency. I learned to love our National Parks on family trips. The threat to them now would break Dad’s heart. As would all that is happening since Jan 20th.

In the wee hours of March 7th 2024, my Dad passed. Hard to believe it’s been a year without him. I miss him. I just scrolled through his FB page. So many memories w/his 2nd wife Merrilee, the grandkids, baseball, his books, his garden, his posts & letters to the editor supporting Democracy. 🥺💔

The 17th would have been my mother’s 84th birthday. She died at 44. It will be 40 years since she called my name come August. Hits different this year as Dad is also gone now. Almost a year since he passed. He too would have been 84 this year. Miss them both. Grateful for the good memories.

Thinking about leaving FB, IG, Threads. Probably won’t completely disengage like I did with Twitter, but I’ll limit my content even more than now.

I’ve had anxiety since I was 8, panic attacks since I was 15, depression on & off since I was 20. I have a toolbox of coping mechanisms. Been using a lot of them to deal with this feeling of doom as Jan 20th gets closer.

We got about 3 inches of snow Friday night. Bright sun and warmer temperatures means it’s melting fast. The neighborhood deer was out looking for food.

I’m still recovering from life altering events in 2023 & 2024 while not fully recovered from a life changing event in 2019, let alone the pandemic years. I’m not despondent. I’m tired. I’m concerned than I’m not ready for battle in 2025. Yet I rise every morning with the hope of a manageable day.

Here’s to a new year. May it be better than expected. May your relationships flourish, your health issues be few, your home warm and cozy, your bills manageable, and your mood stable.

Just finished Netflix’s “A Man on the Inside” with Ted Danson and Sally Struthers. It was pretty great. I loved “The Good Place” too. An Easter Egg in the very last episode for fans of both shows.

I’m tired. I’m tired of making my body move even though all my joints scream “no”. I’m tired of pretending I’m ok when things when things are clearly not ok. I’m grateful for my life. I want the future to be less difficult than the last 5 years. I’ve faced things I never thought would happen to me.

While scrolling on my phone for landscapes & flowers for my 2025 calendar, I saw many pictures of Dad. It made me sad. I had to stop and sit with the sadness. And I’m still sitting with it. Sigh. It will be the first Thanksgiving & Christmas without him. All the family is feeling his empty space.

A week off to do whatever I want, need, without looking at my work emails. Yay! First up, watching “Double Indemnity” on TCM. I see something new each time I watch.
