Airbus Beluga ST5 made her final flight today, to live out her days at Broughton as a STEM educational facility. An intended flypast was cancelled because of the weather - however the crowds were there to welcome her, despite the cold (I'm still thawing out). A photo I took of ST5 three years ago:

If I had one dream for this year, it was that the #BattleofBritainMemorialFlight would bring the Lancaster home to Hawarden airfield for her 80th Birthday. And it actually happened. (We both have our roots in Hawarden). PA474 was built at the end of WWII, therefore didn't see war service.

Well, the drawing skills are more than a bit rusty but I started compiling a sketchbook of places relevant to my own family history. Pencil, cartridge pad, eye. Nothing else.

A cold, windy day. I should be sitting beside the fire in the Kirkstile at Loweswater, but I was thwarted by a broken coil-spring. It was not to be, not today.
