I saw 'Project Hail Mary' this weekend (and I haven't read the book), and I'm wondering about the actual logistics of observing the Patrova Line -- like we don't have that many IR telescopes pointed toward the Sun/Venus....

Fun fact from NASA's Lindsay Hayes at Space Science Week: Right now, Mars is pretty much on the opposite side of the Sun from Earth. So they are using the Perseverance rover (Mastcam-Z) to monitor farside sunspots to feed into space weather forecasts for the Artemis II launch.
