How amazing are the @ncetm.bsky.social CP materials and the @oaknational.bsky.social resources are super helpful for ideas. Just so so far beyond anything else. So glad our LET curriculum offering is based on these. Now @ncetm.bsky.social please do the same for nursery and reception.

Interesting to read the idea of the curriculum review being ‘evolution not revolution.’ With nearly a third of children not proficient at maths is that something we really want to evolve? I’d say most teachers want a radical overhaul of the maths.

Listening to my wife doing death by phonics training and overheard... "children must go through daily rapid catch-up." Why is that given gospel for phonics and not maths? Why do we still not get that the exact same thing needs to apply to maths, in particular addition fact fluency.

Let’s actually teach problem-solving! OFSTED: Primary schools should make sure that all pupils learn to apply facts and methods to wider problem-solving. Far too often problems are just another activity and forced into every lesson; we should have a systematic approach to teaching them to all.

Less is more! OFSTED: schools should make sure that curriculums emphasise secure learning of, rather than encountering, mathematical knowledge.” This can’t happen with the current bloated primary curriculum - model it, replicate it, soften with varied fluency and use it - is too rushed for many.
