Say you have some observations and a black box model (e.g., compiled and you can't change anything about it). You can programmatically manipulate the model parameters and compare results to observations. That's it. What tool do you use to tune the parameters? Bonus for any #bayesian tools

Are there any standards for adding metadata to files? I'm specifically thinking about csv and other human readable files with an xml metadata that is FGDC compliant. Image files with EXIF metadata is an example that comes to mind for "attaching" useful context to a data set.

Any advice for fitting models that need lots of cores and RAM? I'm goofing around with building a small local network with a couple of nodes. Struggling a bit to find a good framework that supports monolithic code could potentially abstract and pool resources and be accessed from docker.

I really like latex, markdown, and #quarto because I can inject thoughts as inline comments directly into the raw document, thereby preserving distracting thoughts, but then not have those written side quests show up in the main story. Just seems to agree with my style.
