I'm attending a lunar new year event and some of the dumb shit I'm hearing fall out of white people's mouths is making me want to... assertively shake some cultural education into them.

No nation is a monoculture. Wearing a specific cultural label doesn't always make someone a good person. Even the friendliest places on Earth have their fair share of cruel reactionaries. The internet has flattened perception, obliterated pragmatism and continues to discourage nuance.

One thing I really need to focus on this year is leaning into abstract musical structures. I don't just mean weird time signatures or strange chord progressions, but actually deconstructing the way the art is presented. I have fun/odd ideas and I need to stop sanitizing them for wider consumption.

I just got a new audio tool that I am absolutely going to use the shit out of, to a wonderfully annoying degree, in the near future.

Everything is cyclical. Today's progressivism is tomorrow's orthodoxy. The rebels eventually become the rule makers. It used to happen so slowly that people barely even noticed, nowadays it happens so quickly that nobody can even keep up. Yet the wheel ceases not.

Saw this looks-maxing dude preening and peacocking at my gym, so I offered a "lookin' good, girl!" as I walked past. Watching his ego shatter in real time was delightful.

I was today years old when I learned there are people who brag about having AI Psychosis for clout, in the same way some folks fake having MPD/DID and other extremely rare disorders. They even add gibberish code to their posts, to demonstrate how the "AI" is "influencing" them.

Last summer I wrote a very angry, highly political, and incredibly pessimistic album. I ended up not releasing it. We're in a dark place as a civilization, it would feel better to put something else out into the world right now. Not pop music, but a little light, a little hope maybe. We'll see.

I wish I was joking. It just kinda... Happened.

That time I sat down to practice a writing exercise and accidentally wrote a complete 35 page isekai story involving a gamer girl and her friends getting trapped inside a VR MMORPG world before slowly losing their sense of personal identity and turning into sexy dungeon monsters.

One of the greatest joys in life is hearing someone speak about you in a language they don't expect you to understand as you walk past. The look of shock and sometimes even contrition when you pause, smile and respond fluently, even politely to their vulgarity... Oh that's magical.

I feel seen.

Emerging from the Southern Ocean in full gear after a Christmas shore dive. "Are you a sea monster?" Asks a small girl who stops playing on the beach to observe me removing my fins. "Almost certainly." I reply with a grin. "Sea monsters are cool!" The child beams. Sometimes humans are alright.

"Every human is fundamentally selfish and self-interested," She continued, "but the good ones recognize it, channel it in a way that doesn't burden others. The good ones are rare." "Very rare." He responded, still sorrowful. "Want to get out of here?" She asked, her black lips parting invitingly.

"I can't understand faith, but I think I understand morals." He mused, sad at the state of the world. "That's the rub," She replied with a slight smile to mask her own misanthropic thoughts, "most people have faith that their lack of morals doesn't matter."

I sort of feel like humanity lost the plot when it began equating personal interests with personal identity. A friend legitimately asked me if I've stopped making music because I'm "going diving now", as if I've had to just give up being a musician because I like swimming with cephalopods.
