Just booked my @deepdishswift.com ticket and so excited to attend again in 2027.

Part of building out @dewygolf.bsky.social is building a process and task management system that is flexible, able to work on multiple machines/droplets. Seeing the system churn on ~40k golf courses has been rewarding and very excited to see new courses come "on line" daily.

I’ve optimized the map collection process to the extent that what was initially expected to take 30 days for the entire USA can now be completed in less than 2 days. Still have more processing/learning to go, but most courses no longer need human intervention to create, understand and validate them

@dewygolf.bsky.social continues to build out the v1 maps. Looking at this one honking course in Florida I'm excited by the results and the future of golf maps. All that hard work is starting to show up and cannot wait for what's next.

This morning, I had a meeting with my sister to discuss a new project she needed for a thesis/class work. (She’s a nurse; I'm not) I quickly used @heygenai.bsky.social's Live Avatar to create a mockup of an experience and test the idea. About 2 hours of work and up and running.

Wild seeing Brazil/Portuguese overtake US/English for one of my side projects. Localization matters because people being comfortable in the app they use matters.

Printing my v1 model for @dewygolf.bsky.social maps. Really jazzed to see the numbers improve and all the hard work (hopefully) pay off with clean results.

Cont. adventures in annotation. Playing with "ISpy" (don't sue me), where each annotation has it's own frame (crop is user set) can filter on confidence level and then you're off checking "is/is not". Been pretty fun. A few standard of living enhancements like hide/unhide and zoom.

Up early further refining my CV/scorecard parsing model. Hot Chip's In Our Heads is an excellent playing partner for that task.

As I get deeper into maps, I keep learning new, cool things about how to represent relationships of items to one another. i.e. golf courses have (typically) 9 or 18 holes, each has a tee box, and green.

It might sound familiar from my @deepdishswift.com talk, but being part of or interacting with the community you intend to build apps or services for is likely the most significant advantage you could look for.

I keep checking my email to see if a second round of #WWDC invites have gone out. So far, nope. 🙃

Adventures in computer vision, how to keep multiple machines in sync with almost 15 GB data

Didn't have "create a sync, auth, and db solution for ML projects" in my bingo card but it was becoming a time suck NOT to do it.

Beyond getting strings correct in localizing, the most difficult part is (was) collecting screenshots. Continued fun adding bits and bobs to my testing skill. github.com/ioloro/iOS-T... Also added some nifty instruments tricks I've found to make apps faster/more responsive.

Not perfect by any means but got iCloud syncing of jobs (Potter tasks), machine state, and moving tasks around to load balance between multiple computers.

Those #WWDC emails are coming out. In my case it was a “we regret” result. Bummer. I’ll be there in person regardless. Excited to see folks and attend lots of events.

Direction of slope is key when you're considering hits, but also frost/dew/moisture impact. Been playing with combining a couple of variables to make heat maps of slope intensity and direction to better power maps in @dewygolf.bsky.social

Met with a remote sensing engineer this week that maps wildfires and fire risk. Got some great tips how to augment my CV pipeline with standard RGB, but then also add NDVI and other band data that might help.

Continued efforts to build out better detection and annotation tools. Using SAM3, creating first pass annotations, then validating before kicking off additional active learning. Created a "swipe" feature set to swipe to approve/reject/skip annotations.

Training using a local MCP/tools I've built out feels like a super power. Being able to create multiple strategies, run them all and check in on results.

Playing with different annotation interactions, attempting to improve speed and comfort. Now using a couple ML methods to detect contours, then be able to trim or add to the polygon with limited interaction. Probably need to make an iOS app with pencil support...

Experimenting with animating sensor data. Eventually looking to build out predicted poses based on sensor data, and how that maps to detected activities. Boring, for now.

I've been thinking of new ways automated testing could be used. Today, I created a series of tests that goes through my customer flows in a variety of appearances. They take screenshots, finally creating a new webpage where I can directly compare various UI against each appearance.
