At the VERY LEAST, since he accomplished nothing else to hold the leaders of this accountable, Merrick Garland needs to release the damn report and stop being afraid of his own shadow. Weak people all over this Admin is part of what got us here.

Think about this. When your insurance company rejects a “pre authorization” request, they are essentially accusing your doctor of being incompetent and/or dishonest. Someone you’ve never met is saying the person you entrust with your health is a crook or a quack. And we accept this insanity.

It’s great that the proportion of the population that is uninsured is at an all time low. But consider the tens of millions underinsured. If you live in fear that an illness or injury could cause serious financial hardship, the system has already failed you. “Medical debt” should not exist.

Agree. Our leaders not responding to this outpouring of justified rage is astonishing. Add in the fact that a better system is readily achievable, and would save hundreds of billions of dollars, and the only possible conclusion is that the vested interests are simply too powerful to challenge.

This is good, but misses the point. AI is just a tool. Med debt/med bankruptcy, and increasing use of “delay and deny” tactics are symptoms of a failing system. ERs have no leverage, and can’t pass more cost to EEs, so are directing their “insurers” to choke off demand at the point of purchase.

In many cases it’s the self-insured employer calling the shots. The “insurance company” on the ID card is just a claims processor/network manager that follows polices and procedures set by the employer. As this becomes better understood, expect more of the rage to be directed at execs of employers.
