My friend @tamsinwilson.bsky.social said a while back that Frankenstein really needs to be adapted by a woman, and I agree. I only read the book recently and it took my breath away. With that in mind I watched the new Frankenstein last night. I liked it a lot, but I have thoughts.

I find Wednesday, the character, incredibly annoying in the second series of Wednesday. She's really annoying. I also really dislike creepy invisible fangirl character.

I think that both in the book and in the films, Frodo barely fights and only gets injured and hurt all the time. I kinda like that. The fancy shiny sword he gets from Bilbo is basically there to warn him about Orcs. He hardly uses it as a sword. But even with the warning, he keeps getting hit.

Moving Pictures is not necessarily my favourite Pratchett book. Something about it doesn't feel quite Discworld about it to me, maybe because it focuses on a predominantly American industry, or maybe it is because I have been quite disenchanted with the film industry in recent years. 💙📚

Animation and puppetry are incredible. The main girl is not that great, and the story feels like so many things I've seen and read before. Maybe it's a bit late for me with this one.

Absolutely loved the finale of this Slow Horses series. Beautiful stuff. I love that they always have a teaser for the next series at the end. Means they keep filming.

I might also carry on with my LotR rewatch (second half of extended Fellowship) but it might not be very seasonal.

I'm going to spend Halloween today, mostly reading, writing, and catching up with Slow Horses and Taskmaster.
