Okay, my follower count and mix on here is now such that I need to say this: If you know me in real life, no you don't. If you saw me at a place I can routinely be found, no you didn't. Thank you for understanding.

When I came back to Vermont, I was supposed to retrofit my closet to blend in around here, but I just found a worn-once 100% merino Brooks Brothers sweater in a thrift store. At least I can tell people I got it for $14. That should appease the New Englanders.

Found True Lies in a dvd bin. Orpheus reviewed it as "not bad" so I watched it. Folks, it's so bad. The female lead (no slag for the actor) goes from "sexy if she would only take off her glasses" to "Jar Jar Binx in a little black dress." This transformation is achieved by traumatizing her.

About a month after adopting a chronically deficient local free shelf, it has finally achieved hat saturation, meaning they don't all disappear the same day they're dropped off. So I've moved from crocheting hats to thrifting winter socks and cleaning them up.

This borders on a Bad a Leftist Confession post, but until today, I had an Amazon Prime credit card. I needed the signup bonus cash to get some basics when I moved. So shoot me. Anyway, I called to cancel it today and had a pretty funny conversation.

Migraine day! đ Actually, this is day three, but today the meds aren't working as well. I wonder how many people get their first migraine as adults. And of them, I wonder how many think they're dying. Because this is not a normal human body feeling.

News notifications lately have mostly just made me feel like I'm having a stroke, but this one is a more clear-eyed and sincere "What the fuck is happening?" No idea how this will play out. Guess we're gonna see. Also, prepare for the news to be nothing but this for a while.

Dreamed that a friend had negative feedback about one of my hacker books because there "wasn't enough detail about the architecture in it" and that was all they were interested in right now. Woke up and solomnly made a note to sprinkle in more Boston building detail for the new edition.

There's too much "sad that immigrants did this" in the comments, so I would like to participate in putting a stop to that: if you actually read the article, it says both of these men are from Texas.

In the south side of Minneapolis, community members have started setting up filter blockades- which are make shift roundabouts. The intent is to slow down the erratic ICE driving behavior among other things. Full report to come on

The defense in this article is "but a few people crossed the imaginary line in front of the ICE facility!" That is not a good reason to tear gas hundreds of people, including kids.

My primary participation in the General Strike was to not shop today. But I've spent the last year deleting accounts with tech monopolies, unsubscribing from all streaming services, and removing my books from Amazon, so. Participation enough. Long-haul participation.

I started therapy last year. Mostly to see if I could be handling chronic pain and disability better. But we end up spending most of my sessions talking about sociopolitical theory, mental health funding, and mutual aid methodology. I think I'm doing therapy wrong.

I know I could not to Orpheus's job, because every time we reason through a tech support problem together, my conclusion (whether we solve it or not) is always "Computers were a mistake." I'm pretty sure he's not allowed to say that to end users. I would say it every damn day.

All of the storm cleanup plans revolved around a forecast of the snow stopping by 1 AM. Parking bans were in effect. Plows were waiting. It's 3 AM and still coming down like it can do this all day. Have a feeling I may not be leaving the house tomorrow, either.

I live in the middle of nowhere in Vermont. If ICE tried to bring a whole circus to town, they would find one local gas station chain open to them and almost nothing else. Also, there is one hotel. We would know where to find them at night. With bagpipes.

There is no such thing as apolitical art. Art that pretends everything is beautiful and fine when things are otherwise is also political art: the bad kind. This is the good kind.
