Before and after - picked up this little guy from the gutter yesterday evening where it had huddled up, already ready to accept its fate. Completely emaciated. It received immediate care in the form of subcut fluids, baby formula and all the warmth - totally different bird already this morning!

Skippy has such a little babyface, despite being almost 10 months old now, his cere is still rather soft and pink. He also still has a soft reddish patch on his chest, which usually fades before adulthood. 🤔 (Pic: The Skibbles chilling on my desk after an evening bath) #pigeonsky

Still feeling art-blocked to hell and back even after what’s been five years now, so I’m doodling pigeon face studies in crappy ballpoint ink pen so I don’t forget how to even hold a pen at this point. 🫠

World’s most spoiled little b—, refuses to eat anything other than peeled sunflower seeds apparently. (Eye got worse so now we’re on antibiotic eye drops on top of oral antibiotics, it’s not the eye seen in the video tho)

Why do I keep finding the absolute weirdest freak accident pigeons?! What even hurt this poor bird to leave a lump and cavity the size of my thumb?! And how did it survive to heal only to end up huddled up against the wall with nasty head trauma anyway?!

Man this week has been insane. 36 hours of all pigeon related work in just three days. And that not even counting transit times or regular care for the pigeons I have at home. 🫠

Haino Update: Still RoundTM (off Screen) And his wifey (blue and white bands) Joachim has graced us with her presence again

Today was probably one of the hardest days in my whole time rescuing pigeons. 18 pigeons locked up in an attic, two already dead when we arrived, six on the verge of dying. Three of those also died in our hands, despite the fact we immediately gave them infusions and all the warmth we could find.

Oh hey guess who‘s as late as ever to join the party. Went the entire time of lockdowns without catching it, didn’t even catch it at a con or other event… nope, just like that. Luckily only had a one day fever and a runny nose now, with a bit of pressure on the ears. I’m more annoyed than anything

Found some lovely amanita mushrooms on my way today.

I have a wee nugget, special delivery from the nearby amazon depot. Very beepy. A+, 10/10 stars, would beep again.

In the meantime her man was having a bath, getting everything all around soaked with him.

The lady is feeling a bit adventurous today, and is very cute (as usual)

I’m befriending the local crows, finally. They already know when I’ll be passing through here and that I bring delicious peanuts. And they already demand more ahaha but I’m all outta peanuts already. They’re stashing most of them nearby, under leaf litter or they tear out some moss for cover.

How much do pigeons love bathing? The answer is yes.

Some people carry falcons on their arms… me? Wood pigeon youngster who cluelessly drank from a puddle on the road. Can’t fly yet, seems to be mostly healthy otherwise though at least. It’s very grumpy.

I also have two of these pretty birbs now. 👀 Always wanted pet birds, never been too fond of parrots as pets though because they’re loud and destructive. I really only recently realised that pigeons have always been an option too. A much better option even, because they’re much more gentle.

Good morning pigeons greeting the rising sun. It’s getting cold outside.

Apparently this year fate chose to punch me in the face with a sign to change careers into animal rescue and care. Started with the pigeons, now I just missed my timely bus to work because I had to rescue two adorable kittens that were most likely abandoned in a parking lot.

Also for a change of pace or something, I’ve been noodling around with sculpting one of them weirdo cats in 3D (on iPad using Nomad sculpt)

The tiniest of nuggets. Just collected it from a balcony of an empty flat that needs to be cleaned so new people can move in on the first. Now I’m delivering it to its new foster parents. 🥹

Two lil’ squeakers reunited. Most likely siblings since they were found at the same location on the ground, just two days apart. That makes it… seven pigeons in my care now. :’)

Today’s pigeon adventures involved one (1) egg soon to be chick. Probably gonna hatch next week and then I will return to scoop the little ugly cutie up and shove it under some unsuspecting other broody pigeon’s butt. 👌 Somehow people keep being quite fascinated by the egg candling process here.

Headed downtown to take some pictures of pigeons…. Ended up bribing the local gang of crows with peanuts instead.

Also encountered the angriest looking pigeon who was actually rather sweet and the actually angriest pigeon who was more interested in bullying another pigeon than grabbing any of the seeds we fed them. Silly bird has weird priorities.

Pigeon piles. Went out today to see if we can find some tangled pigeons to free, but mostly we just got a bunch of photos in the end. Didn’t manage to catch any of the four or so tangled birds we spotted sadly.
