For what it's worth, the person who discovered this also backs that it only really affects the basecamps and gathering hub. He does say there's a slight difference in the locales but considering the hardware he's using is really weak, it's going to be nothing on competent PCs.

Basecamp and hub - I should specify. The DLC-checking only happens if you're close to that specific palico that gives access to the Steam Store. Which is only basecamps and hub. Performance will be improved there by buying DLC on CPU-limited hardware. But everywhere else (aka hunts) is the same.

I've seen enough. There's nothing to it. It boosts performance only in basecamp for severely limited hardware like laptops or the Steam Deck. It's of little use to anyone else and this entire saga was a waste of everyone's time.
