started writing a new novel today that i’ve been developing and percolating on over the past two years. unlike my last book, i don’t really have a plot outline, just seems like the kind of story that wants to tell ME where to go and it’s v freeing

this week i: - finished the first draft of my novel - got a new tattoo - met one of my favorite romance authors - received my master’s degree in the mail we’re living large y’all!!

i finished writing the first draft of my novel today & it’s messy & in desperate need of huge, shifting developmental edits but it’s all on paper now !!! it exists!! the first novel i’ve actually completed in a little over 10 years !! 233 pages & 60.7k words later 💌📫⚽️🖋️🫀⭐️

i have my master’s in library and information science from syracuse university!! 🍊 it’s been a hard but amazing road to come to this moment and i’m proud to say that i’m now the second person in my family to attain a master’s degree?! i’m excited to continue my career in librarianship. go orange!!

lowkey i think a poem is a lot like a novel in that just like a protagonist needs to want something, so does the speaker of your poem. there should be a want or even a don’t-want for something. otherwise what is the goal? who are you writing this for?

yesterday my partner and i saw a murder of crows picking at some litter in the street, and a few seconds later saw one of them fly away with a half-empty barbecue sauce cup in their beak with the rest of the group following. feel like there's a poem in there somewhere

today i had a full writer day: i finished drafting another chapter of my novel, wrote my monthly newsletter, prepped for a writing workshop i’m hosting, and sent over revisions on the first proofs of my children’s picture book. this is the life i’ve always wanted!!
