Celebration at Riverside Studios The Film is Fabulous! team would like to thank everyone who came to the event at Riverside Studios in London on Saturday, 4th April, to celebrate the return of the two episodes of ‘The Daleks’ Master Plan’.

Zoe's back, and we're headed down under for a movie that we both saw as young children but haven't seen since, and find as much to enjoy now as we did then.

Thanks to @riversidelondon.bsky.social and @filmisfabulous.bsky.social for a fantastic day watching the first three episodes of ‘The Daleks’ Master Plan’. It was wonderful to share the experience with friends, with the families of cast and free and Steven Taylor himself, Peter Purves.

Well, Camfield delivers the goods, and Hartnell has such a great expressive face for close-ups. Loved those episodes.

Human Spaceflight: 07 Aug 1971. Apollo 15 splashes down. One parachute failed so the landing was harder than usual but well within tolerances. The crew returned with a wealth of scientific data and many kilos of lunar rock and soil to be examined.

So, Artemis II lifted off on the first crewed lunar mission since 1972 last night, and I'm... rather ambivalent about it. On the one hand, yay, humans going back to the Moon. On the other, it's all rather limp in terms of goals and planning. A flyby seems like a wasted opportunity.

Human Spaceflight: 05 Aug 1971. On the trip back home from the Moon, Apollo 15 Command Module Pilot Al Worden carries out an EVA to retrieve film canisters and other items from the Scientific Instrument Module bay of the service module, which had taken images and other readings of the lunar surface.

Human Spaceflight: 02 Aug 1971. At the end of a third lunar surface EVA, the crew of Apollo 15 prepare to stow their samples in the LM and return. Before they do, Dave Scott provides a demonstration of the physics of gravity, dropping a hammer and a feather at the same time.

Human Spaceflight: 01 Aug 1971. Probably the most famous find on the lunar surface, the Genesis Rock, is located today by Dave Scott and Jim Irwin on Apollo 15's second lunar surface EVA. They had driven to a crater called Spur on the lunar rover and found it on the rim.

Human Spaceflight: 31 Jul 1971. After a sleep period in the LM, Apollo 15's Dave Scott and Jim Irwin stepped out onto the lunar surface. There they deployed the lunar roving vehicle, a folding electric car that would allow them to explore further afield than on foot alone.

Human Spaceflight: 30 Jul 1971. Apollo 15's Lunar Module, Falcon, lands on the plain at Hadley, marking the fourth successful lunar landing. Shortly after, Dave Scott opened the top hatch and performed a 'stand-up EVA', taking photographs of the terrain from the high point atop the LM.

Human Spaceflight: 26 Jul 1971. In Florida, a mighty Saturn V rocket lifts off the pad once more. This time it carries Dave Scott, Jim Irwin and Al Warden on Apollo 15, the first of the 'J-missions', whose primary goal was scientific exploration of the Moon.

Such a wonderful double act, two fine comic actors. Richard Beckinsale was taken far too soon. He'd have been a huge star.

Human Spaceflight: 29 Jun 1971. The triumph of Salyut 1 turns to tragedy. As the Soyuz 11 crew leaves the station and returns to Earth, there is unusual silence from the separation of the descent module to touchdown. On opening the spacecraft, the recovery crews find all three cosmonauts dead.

Human Spaceflight: 27 Jun 1971. Still with an eye on possible lunar missions, the Soviets launched their third N1 rocket, N1-6L, on this day. Seconds after launch it showed guidance problems, and less than one minute later it shut down and fell to the ground some miles from the launch site.

Human Spaceflight: 06 Jun 1971. Cosmonauts Georgy Dobrovolsky, Vladislav Volkov and Viktor Patsaev become the first people ever to occupy a space station as Soyuz 11 sends them into orbit to link up with Salyut 1. Despite the previous failure of Soyuz 10 to dock, this time they are successful.

Human Spaceflight: 22 Apr 1971. Cosmonauts Vladimir Shatalov, Aleksei Yeliseyev, and Nikolai Rukavishnikov launch aboard Soyuz 10 for the first attempt at putting a crew aboard a space station, Salyut 1. Unfortunately the docking mechanism fails and they have to return to Earth without boarding.

OK, according to the camera script, the Dalek on the right of this scene is the Dalek Supreme. Consistently in the other episodes, that refers to the Black Dalek. Yet here, it is not. But they must surely have the black one as I can't believe they repainted it already after MTTU. Intriguing...
