I've been doing solely commissions for almost 16 years now. My BEST months are maybe $1000 in comms, which sounds great until rent is 1600+, bills another 800-1000, no savings, can't afford food, or doctors, or vets. Being an artist is a dream come true, but it's soul-crushing every day surviving.
