If anyone in the Austin, TX area is looking for furniture (power living room set, matching table set, complete bedroom set, another living room set). I’m giving away everything from my mom’s house. What I don’t give to friends, will be going to flood victims of the recent disaster.

Before family events began cascading, I was in Lancaster, PA for a few days to lead sales meetings. It was such a quaint place, I hope to return soon.

I gave my dog, Charger, to mom and he spent his life with her while I worked 50hr weeks and 14 credit hr semesters. Due to his age, temperament, and health, it was impossible to rehome or travel. Yesterday the vet agreed to send him across rainbow bridge. He’ll be with mom again, but it crushed me.

Got the call that I didn’t want - mom’s rehab wasn’t going well, she’s been in hospice for two days and they’re anticipating tomorrow she’ll be at peace. No sense in rushing out to fly to Texas again, she’s been asleep the last two days, and not expecting her to wake up unless some kind of miracle.

Won’t be attending Furvana this weekend, hope everyone has fun! I’ll be out traveling the next two weeks for work and personal and need to focus on those events.

Whenever I hear about seniors crashing into buildings, I’m reminded the importance of pedestrian friendly developed cities. So many issues can be avoided if independent living weren’t in car-dependent areas. It won’t be for several decades, but I’ll eventually be somewhere urban for that reason.

Don’t you love it when you reconnect with someone you’ve not spoken to in years, only to be vividly reminded why you stopped talking to them? 🫥 Being a recovering people pleaser, I’ve become acutely aware of these feelings and leaned heavily into them. Can’t say I’ve had regrets about that.❤️‍🩹

Things are getting spicy in Austin! While working through family drama, some good news is that my mom is going to get moved to a rehab facility. Surgery was mostly successful, but paralyzed from the chest down. Working through these challenges of how her life will be moving forward.

I got the message a couple hours ago that I didn’t want, but mentally prepared. Unfortunately my mom is expected to pass within the next day or so. I’m so thankful for Delta and my friends to help me secure a flight within the hour to get to Austin this afternoon.

Since the main hotel for Furvana shut down and there aren’t any trailer accommodation available for my camper close by, I decided to skip the con. 🤷‍♂️

My piece of advice for younger people, your mid 20s & 30s will be the hardest. You’ll have ability to choose between wants vs needs, that discipline (or lack of), will determine how you balance the rest of your life. Those choices lead to sleeping comfortably or living in a complicated nightmare.
