I do not like this framing at all. The tax increase was on annual net income, not corpus, and the tax simply reduced a foundation’s payout requirement by that same amount.

You know what else destroys “social solidarity”?

I said it would get worse very quickly. By tomorrow we will have completed the most dangerous & frightening 24 hours thus far of Trump 2.0. Just to name a few: 1. Defiance of a court order by sending migrants to Sudan without due process (despite clear DP decision SCOTUS) & Dist. CT. order.

So to encapsulate the cruelty of the proposed philanthropy tax, government services are being gutted to pay for tax cuts primarily benefiting the wealthy, and philanthropy’s ability to aid those most impacted is being reduced also to pay for those very same tax cuts. (10/11)

So to restate- the wealthy avoided paying taxes by making gifts to philanthropy and now get tax reductions paid for by those gifts. (4/11)
