We had to say goodbye to our boy Moose today. We loved him, and were loved by him, for 19 years. He was the perfect little loving void - a total weirdo who loved people, tap water, and making his presence known by yelling at all hours. It's awfully quiet here today.

Today thanks to @raydoesdata.bsky.social I learned I have no idea where Marysville is. Which is weird, cause I definitely pay property taxes and water bills to the city of goddamn Fredericton.

The only thing I hate about winter is when the weather keeps me from going out to do something I love.

2025 was a great year for me. Its started out somewhere very different than where it ended, and I can't say that I could have predicted the changes that would happen over the last 12 months, but I am so glad that I pushed myself out of my comfort zone. Here's to more of the same in 2026!

Great day. Barn chores, rode some horses, shot some arrows. 10/10. Cold didn't bother me til my toe warmers ran out, but they had been in use for 7 hours at that point so I think that's fair.

Went out to the barn this morning when it was -20 and I am breaking the silence on this important issue. Folks, the horse people have been hiding the good winter gear from the rest of the population. Want to stand outside and sweat in -20 weather? Buy equestrian winter clothing.

Wasn't feeling very enthusiastic about work today, the year end burnout is real. Considered calling in sick due to exhaustion, but felt too guilty about it. Then the weather made my decision for me by causing a power outage.

Received my WT3 pin today! This is part of the international horse archery grading system implemented by the International Horse Archery Association, and 'WT' stands for walk-trot which is the speed at which you are competing. Highest WT grade is 5, which is 2026 goals.

Update: physio put me on crutches 😭 But at least I know I'll be dealing with this ankle properly.

Working in my living room is so freaking weird. Turns out I actually like having my work space very separate from my living space. Hopefully this swelling in my ankle starts to go down soon so I can go back to my usual setup.

I nearly went out of my mind yesterday having to stay on the couch and off my foot all day. At least today I get to work while sitting all day.

Fell off a horse yesterday and sprained my ankle pretty bad. Not the worst sprain I've ever had, but enough to make everything that involves walking super annoying. Also will need a new helmet. Good thing everything is on sale!

I think my favourite part of having a smart watch is fining out exactly how shit my sleep is. For example, last night I apparently slept for over 8 hours, but my sleep score was still "poor" cause I woke up 33 times and only got 20 mins of deep sleep. There should be a badge for that.

I was getting tired of never knowing what time it was while on horseback, but also did not want to be pulling out my phone and be distracted by all the notifications. So I wanted a watch. I decided on a garmin, cause i want the biometrics, but zero notifications. 10/10 would recommend.

Spent all day with horses. Did barn chores, rode my lease horse, then drove from Charters Settlement to Harvey to ride the horse I ride for archery. Am exhausted, and sore, but happy.

I was a coms staffer at PSAC when the Harper government slashed the public service — a miserable time for everyone. All it led to was layoffs, followed by the fed govt hiring more temps and expensive consultants. And then eventually hiring back even more people. It takes humans to run a country 🤷‍♀️
