Watched a silly film, and it cheered me up. It was See How They Run, and it was very silly indeed, but I did enjoy Saoirse Ronan's turn as Constable Stalker.

Here are a few suggestions to show happiness: - Outward physical cues and behaviours - Internal physical sensations - Cognitive responses - Perhaps a character wishes to hide their happiness to another character, but not to the reader. How would you show this?

Blackened mould mottles the wallpaper and ceiling. Intricate tattoos of death. My parent’s home is decaying like my brother in his grave. He stares accusingly from the photo frames. The table is set for four, but there are only the three of us.

Prompt: Openings Q2: Many stories involve openings between different worlds and times. Books themselves offer an opening to another place. What reasons draw you to write and/or read something unusual and alien to your lived reality?

Prompt: Openings - the opening of my current embryonic WIP. The sea is angry tonight. The water thumps against Matty Bowden’s skiff like a man who slams a fist upon a table, ready to start a fight.

I keep meaning to post here more. Where's the

. I currently have one novel out to query, another I'm editing, and a third that's in the embryonic stage. I also love tea.

Need ideas? Here are some suggestions. - Share the opening line to you WIP - Share a line using the prompt word - Get creative with alternative meanings: an opening could mean an opportunity, an open space, or the beginning of something. (2/2)

The yews stand vigil. They remember the distant days when they were worshiped. Long before the stone churches left them in the shade and crying for sun. They feed off the dead the living bury. Their roots crawling through rotting jawbones like the devil's tongue, hissing secrets of the dead.

Just finished reading Strange New World by

, and the series ends with as much fun as it began. The book started rather slowly, but when it got going it really got going and came to a satisfying and interesting end. I may never forgive the author for the Ark gag, though.

Went out in the sunshine for a nice walk, a route I'd not done before. Only 2500 steps, but some of it very steep. The downhill bit was extremely steep. Very pretty and birdsong everywhere; I heard 14 different species. This small friend was one of them.
