Since the mid 1990s, Norway has imposed a 56 per cent "special tax" for oil and gas companies, alongside a 22 per cent corporate tax rate. Australia could learn a lesson from this and make companies pay their fair share for our natural resources.

Two coal power units in Victoria tripped on Thursday and nobody realised, because a gigawatt of wind and solar was available to step into the breach. Six of the state's 10 coal units were out neatly replaced by batteries, renewables, and a bit of gas.

For every €1 provided through a Basic Income For Artists pilot program in Ireland, the government got €1.46 back. So it’s being made permanent. Over and over we see it. It saves public money to provide public housing. And it makes public money to provide basic income. We can’t afford to NOT do it.

Coal and gas production falls a fair bit in all scenarios behind the govts emissions reduction targets. The fact it's almost the same in each policy scenario suggests it is driven mostly not by Aust policy in the model.
