Not Quite the Cosy Kind of Heritage Heritage photography often comes with a faint air of cosiness—stately home interiors and ornate gardens, sun-faded signs, well-worn woodwork, and that gentle sense of “they don’t make ’em like that anymore.” And, to be honest, we’ve spent our fair share of time indulging that particular impulse lately—wandering through the art deco elegance of Deauville or photographing the timeworn fishing huts of the Vendée. There’s something deeply satisfying about those quieter corners of the past. But every now and then, heritage doesn’t lean into nostalgia.
