‘Ae Fond Kiss’ is one of Burns’ most famous love songs, arising from his relationship with Agnes McLehose. The pair exchanged passionate letters as ‘Clarinda’ and ‘Sylvander’. The emotive song is a powerful farewell to McLehose who was moving to the West Indies.
