I disparaged tumblr a lot back in the day before twitter got all fucked up, but, well, that outage last night was pretty difficult for me not going to lie

Howling, did not appreciate this was the extent of my influence: someone very offline asked my friend what fandom was and my friend began "so, you know like The Terror" ("what's The Terror?")

I stayed up SO late writing last night but this could have been avoided if I'd simply turned my music off and started actually writing earlier than 1.30am. What an idiot.

One overlooked aspect is that graduates are now forecast to cover 83% of higher education costs โ the funding system has been almost entirely privatised.

This is so selfish of me but someone who's in a bad situation is coming to live with us for a while and we don't really have any choice but it means I will lose my room of one's own and wfh space for the duration and I'm really stressed and upset about that. tbh.

I actually had a discussion about this yesterday. The hate for fanfiction has 4 components: 1) It directly defies capitalism. Capitalism tells us that only things that are profitable are of worth. Most fanfic is free and so people equate free to bad. ๐งต

Very fascinated by this from a UK comedy industry perspective. 1. 6x30 audio comedy costs about 75 grand, if you're paying everyone 2. This would have all been BBC R4 stuff 15 years ago (and the BBC could do it a bit cheaper since they already have studios etc)

Spam AO3 comments that are just a very long string of random letters and characters? Extremely annoying. Not even crafted into a fun little message of hate.

Turns out that being obsessed with a new fandom is what gets me starting a load of WIPs, but wanting to move onto something else is what gets me to actually finish and post some of them. Care (but not too much).

Two glasses of wine and a lovely home cooked meal at a friend's house and now I'm staying in a moderately nice hotel in Liverpool because it was discounted because the trains aren't running properly. Does it get any better than this. (payback comes tomorrow in the form of a rail replacement bus)

Oh, you're worried you'll miss out on students who arrive at 18 already with expertise and in alignment? Who have already been "encouraged to engage critically and independently"? Only one possible background that kind of student can come from, after all.
