today's fox fix is another switch usb c port replacement; this one had been melted entirely, fortunately there was no other damage and replacing the port fixed it right up. I think I am getting rather good at these, nice and flat with both rows of pins reflowed properly, and no melting 🦊👍

this unit did show one issue; when removing it from the dock, the fan immediately stopped spinning, indicating an issue with the 5v regulator that powers the fan and joy-con. after reballing a donor IC and rebuilding the area, this switch is cool and charging again 🦊👍

a pleasant fox fix today; this switch was immediately booting to a blue screen, which indicates a critical communication issue between the CPU and RAM or system memory, as well as water damage buildup on much of the board.. fortunately, it seems all she needed was another bath and a good scrub 🦊🧼

well, I've had my first proper travel "adventure".. my final flight home from NFC was delayed overnight last second, so I am in a complimentary hotel in houston after travelling for 20+ hours from copenhagen. that said, I have chinese food and am making the most of it 🦊👍

I managed to bring my favorite dancing shoes ever back to life.. they were completely discolored and the soles were coming apart from dancing so much, but after an overnight oxiclean soak and a generous amount of e6000 adhesive they are shuffling like I remember again 🐾🦊

I am at 11 fully repaired, tested, and assembled switches now, or 20% of that giant 55 unit lot 🦊👍 let's see how many more I can fix hehe

an easy repair for today; when the switch's battery drains below a critical level, the battery itself turns off its output, to protect from over-discharging and damaging the cell. the console can't charge it, and without disassembly, appears to be totally dead.. but all it needs is a little juice 🦊🧃

in all the switches I've worked on, this is the first one I have seen with ring fit adventure on it.. it really is such a charming and well-designed game that makes exercising feel accessible and rewarding, I highly recommend it 🦊👍

got this one reassembled and stress testing.. think I am going to take a break from the actual repair work for now and focus on listing the repaired units and otherwise getting ready for nfc

fell for the "quick" usb port replacement trap again.. they always seem to have torn pads like this. I didn't have any copper repair pads on hand, so I reused the ones that were pulled off. I'm glad I fixed it, but I could go a long time without doing another switch usb repair...
