according to an fcc filing, the steam frame controller appears to connect the analog stick's capacitive sensing in the same way I repaired it on my index controller, with a wire instead of a flex ribbon. hopefully it is a reliable connection and potentially easier to repair by the user 🦊💭

I learned a whole lot about cad software today in redesigning my face tracking mount; I wanted to somewhat mimic the design of the official vive pro mount, and I think it looks rather nice. now to 3d print it and see how it performs 🦊👍

holy smokes I think I got it in one go. the placement seems ideal relative to how it is mounted on the vive pro, with the camera aligned to the center of the mouth and a fair distance out. I will need to test it out tomorrow but I think this might be a success 🦊👍

the EMMC was also completely torched with hot air.. you can see a negative of the copper "DAT0 adapter" modchip installers sometimes jam under the EMMC as the "easy" method. I transplanted it to a hackable switch to dump and restore it to an unbaked chip, and... success! now that's a full fox fix 🦊👍

attempting to restore another one of these failed "kamikaze" modchip installs on the OLED switch.. fortunately the layer stack in this area is all ground and vias for these EMMC data lines. as long as you are careful (and lucky) you can isolate and repair them. still a lot to do but here's hoping 🤞🦊

got (almost) all my repaired switches listed and can disengage from work for a while.. now I need to figure out what I am going to do for furality ultra 🦊💭

this unit passed 100 continuous hours of docked stress testing, so I deemed it fit for resale at a discounted price (as parts/not working with a disclaimer). this little guy is going to ride along and make sure everything stays good with it 💌🦊

late night fox fix.. the capacitive sensor in my index controller's thumbstick had stopped working.. this is a notorious failure point due to the ribbon cable being subject to constant flexing. I reconnected it to the sensor IC with magnet wire, which should hopefully be more flexible
